“This is how we break our lungs.”
“…sharted dreams and cumdust.”
Chance Calloway wanted to write a show about a gay man, but through a very unique lens. Drawing on different areas of his life he created, wrote, and directed the award-winning digital series Pretty Dudes.
Starring Xavier Avila, Yoshi Sudarso, and Olivia Thai among many others, the show is a bold and hilarious look at what it’s like to be queer—or an ally—in today’s America. Winner of Best Series and Best Performance (for Avila) at the 2017 NYPS Awards, the show lives on today, unlike anything that came before or since.
Best Music Video 2018
Calloway co-directed the music video for “How We Break (Pretty Dudes Anthem")” with his friend Gerardo Maravilla and they shared the award for Best Music Video at the 2018 Asians on Film Festival.
Other awards collected include winning Best Series and Best Performance for Xavier Avila at the 2017 NYPS Awards.

Starting with the very first Pretty Dudes short, “Caught Gay-Handed,” the conversation has been forever changed regarding young adults from historically marginalized backgrounds and identities and the friends who aspire to be allies.
The theme song by Matt Almodiel, Calloway, and Peter Su has been officially released (and remixed). The series has been adapted into a novel series. And the journey continues…
